Yesterday I ran a short poll over on Facebook about people's preferred writing implement. I also asked what colour of ink they liked to use, as certain colours are supposed to say something about you and your personality. (Please remember that this is just a bit of fun.) Anyway, the results are now in!
The poll asked "When writing in your diary, journal etc. do you prefer to use: pencil, ballpoint pen, fountain pen, gel pen, erasable pen, quill or other?
And the winner is.....The Fountain Pen!
The good old ballpoint pen was second and then the erasable pen, the gel pen, the pencil and other were all third equal. The only problem is that I don't know what the 'other' is and now I'm intrigued so Jenny, if you read this, please put me out my misery and let me know by leaving a comment at the end :) To be honest it was more or less what I expected but it is nice to know that fountain pens are so popular.
QUESTION
The question was: "The colour of ink you use can say a lot about your personality. What is your favourite colour of ink?"
Here are the colours that came up.
Dark Blue, Turquoise, Black, Sapphire Blue, Florida Blue, Silver, Gold, Red, Purple, Brown.
So, here goes with the big personality reveal. I referred to a few different sources to make sure that they all said more or less the same thing and they did so I hope you find these interesting.
Dark Blue - represents confidence and intelligence.
Turquoise - feminine and sophisticated.
Black - elegant, sophisticated, classy, authoritative, powerful and sexy!!
Sapphire Blue - confident but with a childlike playfulness.
Florida Blue - calm, confident and feminine.
Silver - represents a cool and confident character. It's linked to the subconscious mind.
Gold - understanding and intelligent. Linked to the conscious mind.
Red - represents all things powerful and passionate. A powerful character.
Purple - mysterious and sophisticated.
Brown - friendly, reliable, warm-hearted and down to earth.
So there you have it. I use both dark blue and turquoise ink but now I'm wishing that I used black instead. It will be interesting to hear if any of the above is accurate. Mine is, of course, spot on. Please feel free to let me know in the comment section or on Facebook.
Many thanks to all of you who took part.
Until the next time,
Your confident, intelligent, feminine and sophisticated blogger ;-)

UPDATE - The 'other' in the preferred writing implement was felt tip pen. I don't why I didn't think of that. Thanks for letting me know Jenny.
ANOTHER UPDATE Another popular pen is the rollerball and I don't know why I didn't think of that either. Also an update on ink colour. PINK is also popular and for those of you who like to use pink ink - it represents someone who is: romantic, charming, tender and playful.

We should definitely all start using black ink but, sadly, it's not a colour I would ever write with. Not sure why. Strange.
Thanks for taking part.
thank you for this lovely poll and the explanations on the colours. It really made my day.
I agree that my favourite black doesn't represent everything I'm supposed to be. But I see myself in the sapphire ;-)
So with childlike playfully regards,
Thomas
Thanks for taking part.

Fountain pens are definitely the most popular and they are lovely to write with although I was surprised at just how much more popular they were over everything else.
It would be interesting to hear if you thought any part of the personality link to colour was in any way accurate :)
Thanks again,
Denise
Forgive me but I just found your blog!!! Where has my head been????
Anyway, does nobody write with a rollerball? That's my no-fail backup so I was surprised not to see it on your list of pens....
Also, what about pink ink? I color code most entries in my filofax using 13 different colors of pilot g-2 gel pens and I am curious about pink :)
Great blog, am congratulating myself on having found it (through one of your twitter links)!

Now, pink ink. No-one else who did the poll used pink but I can tell you that it generally represents a person who is romantic, charming, playful and tender. So there you have it. Is that you I wonder? I think pink ink looks lovely actually. I'll update the post with that info.
Thanks again and hope you continue to enjoy the blog.
