Kick Start Your Healthy Eating Plan

Are you one of life's grazers or do you prefer to eat three good meals every day with no snacks in between?

I'm a grazer. I prefer smaller meals but I do like to snack or 'graze' my way through the day. The problem with this is that I don't always choose the healthy option. Actually, if I'm totally honest I don't choose the healthy option very often at all. Somewhere, deep in my subconscious, I have managed to convince myself that it's much easier to eat biscuits, chocolate or crisps than it is to eat fruit, nuts and seeds. When I'm doing the coaching part of my job I work long hours with little time for 'proper' meals and so I tend to just grab something quick whenever I get the chance. When I'm writing I sit at my computer for hours on end and snack on all of the things I mentioned before (it's a well known fact that writing and the eating of biscuits go hand in hand). I do go shopping with the intention of buying healthy options but somehow I always seem to get the shopping trolley that's pre-programmed to bypass the 'healthy snacks' isle and head straight to the biscuits and confectionery. Some of them do that you know. However, all that is about to change with the discovery of www.graze.com

Whilst I was on Twitter the other day, one of my Twitter friends tweeted about receiving her first 'Graze Box'.   She had included a link and a code and, being me, I couldn't resist going for a quick look. As soon as I got onto the site I knew it was something I would be really interested in. Graze is a company which delivers a box of healthy snacks directly to your door, by post. All you have to do is say which day(s) you would like your box delivered, complete a quick survey of the foods you would like included in your box, sign up on the payments page and then sit back and wait for your box to arrive.

The boxes are £3.49 each although if you have a voucher code your first box is usually free and you have the choice of a nutritionbox (of which there are 4 options) or a nibblebox. Each box contains enough to last you between 1 and 2 days and having seen my first box I now believe that to be accurate. I'm not going into great detail about the snacks as you would be better looking on the website for that info. All I will say is that if you don't like or can't eat something due to allergies etc, you just let them know and they won't send it again. Equally, if there is something you love - let them know. Generally the good people at Graze will choose a selection for you however, if you see something you really like, you can request it sooner. I did that with the hickory smoked nuts and they arrived in my first box. So far the system and the customer service have been excellent. "But what's the catch?" I hear some of you ask. Well...there is no catch. What you see is what you get. There is no minimum time or number of boxes. If you don't want any more you just stop your boxes.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings and I'll now let you see what arrived this morning.

This is what was inside when I opened the box.

Really nice packaging.

And finally...

So, today I got a cheddar, red onion and chutney focaccia (which has gone already). It did say on the packet 'Eat me quick, I'm fresh'
'Lost Army' - a rice and peanut cracker mix
Hickory Smoked Nuts and Seeds - I asked specifically for that
and
'Desert du Jour' - Belgian dark chocolate covered apricots with green and flame raisins

That's about it. My next box is due on Friday and I'm looking forward to it already. I know some of you may say that I could just as easily buy similar foods in my shopping but to be honest I don't want huge bags of nuts and raisins and loaves of focaccia etc. lying around. I know they will end up being thrown out because I'll get bored with them after two or three helpings. This way I get lots of variety and nothing gets wasted.

If you are interested in finding out more go to www.graze.com The code for a free box (limited time and UK addresses only) is 2D2QJCW3

Let me know your thoughts.

Until the next time,

Hi Denise, since you were kind enough to visit my blog, I thought I'd pop along to yours and oh wow did I want to sign up for graze.com - but I live Florida. AAAAAA!

Anyway, enjoyed what I read etc, but it wasn't obvious how to make a comment. I wonder if other people may have that problem?

Hi Lesley, thank you so much for visiting. I'm glad you enjoyed what you read and I'm sorry you can't have a Graze Box. Maybe I should have a warning at the top for anyone living overseas just so they're not too disappointed :)

Thanks for pointing out about the commenting. I hadn't realised that so I'll go and have a look at it right now and see if I can remedy it. D.

I love Graze-it would probably cost more to get the stuff they send you from the supermarket. Wait till you get the flapjacks-DELISH!!! Also have become a cashew fan which is soemthing I would NEVER have tried normally.

Hi Carrie, I had the orange and ginger flapjacks in my box today and they were absolutely DELISH!! I had to stop myself from eating them all at once.

It would cost more to get such a good selection at the supermarket so I'm definitely sticking with Graze. Very happy with it.

Thanks for the comments and - HAPPY GRAZING :)
I actually really like idea behind this, I might have to give it ago. How are you getting on with it now?

Honest Bitch - I still really love it. You wouldn't be able to buy such a good selection at the supermarket for the same price.

If you want to try it you can use code 2D2QJCW3 and get your first box free then make up your mind from there.

Let me know how you get on :)

The Sad Songs Blogfest

This is the first time I've ever taken part in a Blogfest and it has been great fun! Thank you to Diane for organising it. You can find Diane's blog by clicking here  Check out her list of inspirational, sad songs. I have had a ball going through old cds, trying to pick out my top 10 sad songs that inspire me. I have to admit that I could have come up with way more than 10 but I decided to give myself a limit. These songs hold no particular memories for me but they are songs that tug at my heart strings every time I hear them and if I'm ever feeling down and wanting to wallow in self-pity, then these are the songs I would put into my playlist and play whilst drinking a bottle glass or two of wine. Are you sitting comfortably? (click on any of the titles to hear the songs on youTube) Hello by Evanescence . The haunting piano accompaniment and the striking voice of Amy lee make this (in my opinion) one of the most moving songs this band have ever released. All O

A-Z Blogging Challenge: B is for 'Baa Baa Black Sheep'

Baa baa black sheep 'Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?   Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full, One for the master, one for the dame, And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.' Although this rhyme was first published in 1744 it is believed to have been around for much longer. In fact, it is thought that it was written in the Middle Ages during the reign of King Edward II (1307 - 1327). This seemingly innocent children's nursery rhyme about a black sheep yielding three bags of wool actually has political undertones like many of the nursery rhymes from that era. During the Middle Ages the wool industry in England was huge and wool was a very valuable commodity. England produced the best wool in Europe and peasants were required to pay their taxes in the form of sacks of wool. They gave a third to the King (the master), a third to the nobility (the dame) and they were allowed to keep the final third for themselves (the little boy who lived down the lane)

Stop! It's Going Too Fast and I Want to Get Off!

Carousel Okay - I don't actually mean that I want things to stop so that I can get off because I'm having too much fun but, over the last few months, my life has become a daily whirlwind of new businesses, taking on new projects, building websites and building a brand and it's not showing any sign of slowing down. I have loved every minute of it so far but it has meant that so many other things in my life have had to be put on the back burner whilst all this has been going on, including Cupcakes and Cadenzas. It will all have been worth it in the long run but I just want to say thanks to everyone who has stuck around and not abandoned this blog and to say that I haven't forgotten about it or you. Why I love Cupcakes and Cadenzas so much and refuse to give up on it it is that it was the very first blog that I set up and is therefore my 'baby' as far as blogs go. I have several other blogs set up for various business ventures but Cupcakes and Cadenzas is
