10 Things I Love About Spring!

Over the last few days there has been a real change in the weather. The sun has been shining and the skies have been blue and cloudless. Dare I say it...I think spring has finally arrived.

Autumn is my favourite time of year but I also think spring is a lovely time of year. It's a time of hope and looking forward and so I thought I would share with you the 10 things that I love about this season.

These are in no particular order.

Enjoying the sunshine
  1. BABY ANIMALS. I love to see the little lambs and calves frolicking in the fields at this time of year. My two favourite things with lambs are when you see them standing on their mum's back and also watching what I call lamb racing. That's when all the lambs get together and race as fast as they can from one side of the field to the other. Then they all turn round and race back again. Hours of endless fun! It's just such a shame that they have to turn into sheep.
  2. SPRING FLOWERS. My garden is full of spring flowers and I always feel as though we are really heading out of winter when the first crocuses start to push their way through. Then, before you know it, the daffodils are shooting up and all of a sudden everywhere is just a blaze of yellow and orange.
  3. SUNSHINE and the gradual warming up of the days. I suffer from SAD and the change in the amount of energy I have when there is more sunshine and more hours of daylight is just incredible.
  4. BEES - both honey and bumble. The first sighting of the bees proves to me that the better weather is definitely on the way. I was out in the garden a couple of days ago and the pieris japonicas (large shrubs also known as Lily of the Valley Tree for those who are wondering) were full of bees all busy collecting the pollen.
  5. GREEN - everywhere. Everywhere you look there is definite green tinge. The grass is turning a rich shade of green, shoots are appearing everywhere and the leaves on the trees are all starting to burst through again.
  6. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES. The other morning I sat outside on the patio and had lunch which was lovely. I am planning lovely long walks with the dogs to new and exciting places and I've already dug my bike out of the garage and I'm ready to go out cycling again.
  7. BIRDSONG. Around  6am - 6.30am the dawn chorus starts and it is lovely to hear. When I was sitting outside having lunch last week all I could hear was the birds singing as they busied themselves collecting bits and pieces for their nests. They always sound so happy.
  8. LONGER DAYS. I love seeing the days get longer and knowing that soon I will be able to spend evenings, when I'm not working, doing outdoor type activities.
  9. EASTER EGGS (the chocolate kind). Need I say more?
  10. The whole feeling of RENEWAL, REJUVINATION and HOPE!
Pieris japonicas
So those are the 10 things I love about spring.

If there is anything that you would like to share about spring then I would love to hear about it in the comment section.

Like you, my favorite time of year is fall. But I also love spring. Actually, I love each season for what it is. I don't think I could live any place that doesn't have proper seasons. The thing I'm most looking forward to this year is sitting out on my patio in my Adirondack chair with a good book and a better glass of wine. =)

Hi Kanalt and thanks.

To be honest, like you, I love every season in some way too and would hate it if the year stayed the same the whole way through.

Being able to do things outdoors such as reading and drinking wine is just bliss so I hope you get the chance to make the most of it at every opportunity. Enjoy!!

A-Z Blogging Challenge: B is for 'Baa Baa Black Sheep'

Baa baa black sheep 'Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?   Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full, One for the master, one for the dame, And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.' Although this rhyme was first published in 1744 it is believed to have been around for much longer. In fact, it is thought that it was written in the Middle Ages during the reign of King Edward II (1307 - 1327). This seemingly innocent children's nursery rhyme about a black sheep yielding three bags of wool actually has political undertones like many of the nursery rhymes from that era. During the Middle Ages the wool industry in England was huge and wool was a very valuable commodity. England produced the best wool in Europe and peasants were required to pay their taxes in the form of sacks of wool. They gave a third to the King (the master), a third to the nobility (the dame) and they were allowed to keep the final third for themselves (the little boy who lived down the lane)

The Sad Songs Blogfest

This is the first time I've ever taken part in a Blogfest and it has been great fun! Thank you to Diane for organising it. You can find Diane's blog by clicking here  Check out her list of inspirational, sad songs. I have had a ball going through old cds, trying to pick out my top 10 sad songs that inspire me. I have to admit that I could have come up with way more than 10 but I decided to give myself a limit. These songs hold no particular memories for me but they are songs that tug at my heart strings every time I hear them and if I'm ever feeling down and wanting to wallow in self-pity, then these are the songs I would put into my playlist and play whilst drinking a bottle glass or two of wine. Are you sitting comfortably? (click on any of the titles to hear the songs on youTube) Hello by Evanescence . The haunting piano accompaniment and the striking voice of Amy lee make this (in my opinion) one of the most moving songs this band have ever released. All O

Stop! It's Going Too Fast and I Want to Get Off!

Carousel Okay - I don't actually mean that I want things to stop so that I can get off because I'm having too much fun but, over the last few months, my life has become a daily whirlwind of new businesses, taking on new projects, building websites and building a brand and it's not showing any sign of slowing down. I have loved every minute of it so far but it has meant that so many other things in my life have had to be put on the back burner whilst all this has been going on, including Cupcakes and Cadenzas. It will all have been worth it in the long run but I just want to say thanks to everyone who has stuck around and not abandoned this blog and to say that I haven't forgotten about it or you. Why I love Cupcakes and Cadenzas so much and refuse to give up on it it is that it was the very first blog that I set up and is therefore my 'baby' as far as blogs go. I have several other blogs set up for various business ventures but Cupcakes and Cadenzas is
