Quick Catch-up

Hello again everyone!

After saying several times that I was back on track with Cupcakes and Cadenzas and that I would be blogging regularly blah blah blah - I have to confess that I have - yet again - failed miserably. You can tell that from the fact that I haven't posted anything since the 3rd August.

In my defence, things have been hectic crazy. I have been busy as usual with my teaching, coaching and singing but on top of that I have been setting up my new jewellery business and the corresponding website and blog. It's amazing how much time these things take especially when you're trying to do it all yourself. Suddenly I had to learn how e-commerce works, how to set up shopping carts and how to become a photographer as well as a million other things. I have plenty of stock made for the shop but actually photographing and listing it is a full time job in itself. Not only that, but once I had a few things listed, people started buying them so I had to start all over again!!

I'm certainly not complaining though and I'm loving every minute of it. It has been a steep learning curve but I think I'm through the worst of it and can now, hopefully, settle down into some kind of routine which will include blogging, catching up with all the blogs I love reading and getting back to Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. I do have to confess that I have missed everyone I'm in touch with through Social Media.

Anyway, my studio beckons once more.

Kanalt - thank you so much. It's so easy to get out of the habit of posting and then so difficult to get back into it again. I'll do my best to post 'regularly' from now on though.

Hi Damyanti - it is very strange how it's always the blog that goes first when, certainly in my life, there are far more things that I would rather give up for a while.

Getting there slowly though :-)

A-Z Blogging Challenge: B is for 'Baa Baa Black Sheep'

Baa baa black sheep 'Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?   Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full, One for the master, one for the dame, And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.' Although this rhyme was first published in 1744 it is believed to have been around for much longer. In fact, it is thought that it was written in the Middle Ages during the reign of King Edward II (1307 - 1327). This seemingly innocent children's nursery rhyme about a black sheep yielding three bags of wool actually has political undertones like many of the nursery rhymes from that era. During the Middle Ages the wool industry in England was huge and wool was a very valuable commodity. England produced the best wool in Europe and peasants were required to pay their taxes in the form of sacks of wool. They gave a third to the King (the master), a third to the nobility (the dame) and they were allowed to keep the final third for themselves (the little boy who lived down the lane)

The Sad Songs Blogfest

This is the first time I've ever taken part in a Blogfest and it has been great fun! Thank you to Diane for organising it. You can find Diane's blog by clicking here  Check out her list of inspirational, sad songs. I have had a ball going through old cds, trying to pick out my top 10 sad songs that inspire me. I have to admit that I could have come up with way more than 10 but I decided to give myself a limit. These songs hold no particular memories for me but they are songs that tug at my heart strings every time I hear them and if I'm ever feeling down and wanting to wallow in self-pity, then these are the songs I would put into my playlist and play whilst drinking a bottle glass or two of wine.
